This Site Is Dedicated To Bear, Our Family Dog

Though Bear only graced our home for a very short period of time, he left an indelible mark. Bear found my sister at BARC (Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care), The City of Houston pound. Bear knew how lucky he was to be free from doggie jail. Bear let us know. Unfortunately, Bear was sick. Bear died Thursday, April 17, 2008. The brutal virus, canine distemper was to blame.

Just a month later, we lost Hondo to canine distemper as well. Hondo was only with us for a month until he passed away. I am so happy his last days were spent in a home that loved and cared for him.

In a few short months, canine distemper and its cruel side effects took our dogs.

We hope in time this site will serve as an educational tool for others whose pets are suffering from what is often a fatal disease. There was much we did not know about distemper and its numerous secondary infections that can, and often do strike. We did everything we thought possible
